Elizabeth and Nikolas have kissed a few times lately on General Hospital.  People are absolutely freaking out about it, calling it weird, saying Elizabeth is a horrible person.  I'm here to say one thing.  Shut up!

Sure, it's a little unusual for people that have been "just friends" for as long as the two of them have to suddenly see each other in a new light - but it happens!  People grow and change over the years.  Elizabeth certainly has.

So, where's the beef?  What, Elizabeth is "supposed to be" with Lucky?  Sorry, I was as big of a Lucky/Liz fan as anyone - ten years ago when Jonathan Jackson was on the show - but that was at least two Luckys ago, and they were teenagers then!  Since then Liz has had two children, neither of them with Lucky, and meanwhile Lucky was off being a drug addict cheating on Elizabeth with Maxie.  But Liz would be horrible for being with Nikolas?  I think not.  Anyone that says so must just hate Elizabeth to think that she deserves to be forever tied to Lucky.  Let's face it... Lucky turned into a doofus.  Liz adapted by falling for other guys.

Being that Lucky is so useless - totally turning into Mac Jr. - and Emily is dead, I think it's completely fitting that Elizabeth and Nikolas turn to each other.  Plus, their on-screen chemistry is so freaking hot.  The way they look at each other actually causes me to physically react.  I was watching the show alone, jumping up and down, screaming at the tv over their 8/21 & 8/24 scenes.  Rebecca Herbst and Tyler Christopher are both incredibly sexy individuals, and damn - when they turn that toward each other...  that's acting right there.  And it's sizzling.

That's my two cents.  I'm emailing the soap mags, telling them I love this couple.  This is the first soap couple that's excited me in years!

I watch all of the ABC soaps, All My Children, One Life to Live & General Hospital.  The way these soaps differ in their SORAS (or not) is quite significant.  For those that don't know, SORAS means Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.

All My Children is very inconsistent with this.  Amanda Dillon, Jamie Martin, and JR & Colby Chandler were aged very quickly.  Amanda was about 9 years old and blonde, then was off the show for five years or so, and returned in her twenties, a brunette.  Jamie and JR were both recast a couple of times within a year or two, taking them both, in that time span, from tween to post-adolescence.  Colby was aged so fast it was nuts.  One day she was an infant, then she was six or so... they kept the same little girl for a couple of years, the character left town, and she returned just a couple of years later, fifteen years old.  Colby was only born ten years ago or so, but she's now a full grown adult.

On the other hand, other AMC children have stayed young kids for some time now.  Little A Chandler, Miranda Montgomery, Kathy & Jenny Martin, Emma & Spike Lavery and Ian Slater are all seven years old or younger, and haven't been re-cast in quite some time... and even when they have been, they haven't been rapidly aged.  I really like how they have so many little kids on that show.  They are adorable, and it's kind of refreshing to see them have to deal with real issues related to having actual children.

However, I also love the fact that General Hospital has aged the kids on that show.  Michael & Morgan Corinthos, Kristina Corinthos-Davis, and Molly Lansing were roughly 12, 6, 8 and 3 (respectively) about a year ago.  Now, they are roughly 17, 11, 15 and 12.  Normally it would really bother me that they aged these kids so fast, and had absolutely no regard for even their birth order.  However, GH had been lacking in adolescents for quite some time, and the teens/tweens are quite entertaining.  Much more so than the little kids were a year ago.

Still, it's a little sad to think about when I watch One Life to Live, which currently has two teenagers who have grown up on the show.  Kristen Alderson is now seventeen years old, and she has played Starr Manning since she was six.  Kristen's brother, Eddie Alderson, has played Matthew Buchanan on the show for almost as long.  Those kids are great, and if the show had decided to age the characters, we would never know, and would never have had the opportunity to watch them grow up.

So, I guess it just varies show to show, character to character, actor to actor...  But SORAS is a dangerous thing, and sometimes hard to pull off.  I will credit GH in its recent example of it for having the good sense to have had most of those kids completely off screen for the last year or so, making re-introducing them so much older a little less bizarre than it would otherwise be.  Maybe that's why it works.  Either way, the recent GH SORAS is fine - but I sincerely hope that AMC doesn't decide to follow suit any time soon with their many little ones.

Ten years ago today, Google was founded. In that time, how has Google changed your life, and do you ever go out of your way to avoid its omnipresent power?

I can remember a time before Google - but for the life of me I don't know how I lived without it!  I seriously use it multiple times almost every day.  So, no... I don't go out of my way to avoid its omnipresent power.  In fact, if ever I can't find something I'm looking for using Google, I get very upset as though Google is failing me in my time of need.  Google has become seen as an inalienable right of people - when it doesn't work, it's like Google is just being stubborn to show us who's boss.

I will start by saying I liked it. I really did. I wasn't expecting to get so drawn into the storylines with the teenagers. I adore Silver.

However, I almost laughed out loud several times by how UNoriginal some of this stuff was - and not because they were copying the original "Beverly Hills, 90210" BUT because they were ripping off other things.

Primary example... The black brother adopted 8 years ago by this white family from the middle of the country somewhere who moves to southern california... i can't remember where i've seen this before... maybe if i think about it really hard it will come to me... *looks at icon* yeah, idk. lol.

That being said, though, the blatent rip off of South of Nowhere with the adopted brother story was such a small part of what is really going on, it didn't take too much away from the show. And they successfully managed to weave in completely new characters into the lives of existing characters from the original show, so that sort of made up for it.

I thought that showing Hannah on the morning announcements was the perfect little acknowledgement that she's around in case they want to bring Andrea on for an episode or two. And while I don't really understand why Erin goes by Silver - or how a little blonde child became SO brunette as a teenager - as I said in the beginning, I ADORE Silver. She's badass... she's hot... she clearly has issues (which is understandable given that BH, 90210 fans already know the history and issues her parents have). And of course I loved seeing Kelly (and Brenda) being worked into the show. Actually, I LOVED seeing Nat!!! That made me happier than almost anything else. lol.

I have to reserve judgement to see how much I really end up caring about these other characters... but so far I'm optimistic about this show! :)

Really?  I think we should make lists of things to do AFTER you die.  I mean, if you're gonna do something in the world, doesn't it - by definition - have to be before you die?!  Is it really necessary to add that?  Can't you just say "things you'd like to do"???  Ugh.

Once again, pictures of an almost dressed Miley Cyrus have been leaked to the public.  Angry parents are now refusing to buy their confused little girls "Hannah Montana" products as a way of showing their disapproval of its' star, a 15 year old girl they no longer consider a good role model.

Disney Channel has been setting itself up for disaster for years, but they don't seem to be getting the message.  It is generally a bad idea for a children's network to center a TV show entirely around one title character.  The show could be a huge hit, but any number of things could go wrong for its ONE star, and the whole show can fall apart.  If Nickelodeon hadn't already planned on this past season of Zoey 101 being its last, it would have been anyway.  Its title character's portrayer, Jamie-Lynn Spears, made sure of that when she got pregnant at the age of 15.  Disney and Nickelodeon should be learning lessons from this kind of thing.

But Disney Channel has taken further steps in the wrong direction, with shows like "That's So Raven" and "Hannah Montana" - where the characters share a first name with the actresses that portray them.  (On the show, Hannah Montana is the pop star alter ego of a girl named Miley.)  Sharing a name with her character will forever tie Miley Cyrus' name to her show.  Granted, "Hannah Montana" is probably not in any real trouble, as the "worst" of the Miley Cyrus pictures (so far) has been a wet t-shirt picture - and there are certainly worse things.  Truthfully, if Miley were one member of an ensemble cast, rather than the one and only star of a show, a wet t-shirt photo probably wouldn't spark any controversy at all.

Nude photos of High School Musical star, Vanessa Hudgens surfaced a few months after the movie premiered.  This didn't seem to put any kind of damper on the success of HSM, prevent sequels from being made, or even cause Disney to feel the need to keep her out of said sequels.  In fact, Hudgens is heavily featured in the previews for the much anticipated third installment of High School Musical.  So, to recap... mothers are boycotting Hannah Montana products over wet t-shirt pictures and NOTHING happened after nude pictures of Vanessa Hudgens surfaced.  I have to think that reactions would have been different if Vanessa Hudgens played the title character of a show or movie rather than one part of an ensemble cast - how else can this discrepancy be explained?  The only other major difference is their ages - Vanessa Hudgens was a legal adult when her photos surfaced.  Some may argue this made her photos less objectionable, but on the other hand, as an adult, shouldn't Hudgens have known better?  Regardless of the reason, people did react differently - further proving it's always a better idea to have an ensemble cast than one title character.

No single 15 year old should be as rich and famous as Miley Cyrus is.  No one should be able to dry themselves off with Miley Cyrus'  larger-than-life-size face on their Hannah Montana towels.  It's just wrong.  In an ensemble cast, any one actor is fairly replaceable if necessary - the success of the show does not rely on any one actor.  This is especially true of shows aimed at fickle kids and teens.  From "Beverly Hills, 90210" to "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (on for 10 seasons / 8 and counting, respectively) shows with a revolving door of characters/cast members that, if anything, thrived longer because of their ability to adapt without some of its original stars.  Even Mickey Mouse Club was like that in its day.

Meanwhile, if mothers want to boycott Hannah Montana products, that's certainly their right... but it shouldn't be because Miley Cyrus is a "bad role model."  She's a 15 year old girl, she's going to make mistakes, she'll hopefully learn from them... and she's going to grow up.  How old will she have to be before it's "okay" for her to stop acting like a squeaky clean, innocent little girl?  It's unrealistic to expect any teenager to behave perfectly all the time.  No, if parents want to boycott Hanah Montana products, it should be to get the message to Disney that they have put Miley in a terrible position.  She is so famous, and so sought after, that hackers are digging into her email to find her private pictures and anything else they can find that might be controversial.  Her whole life is looked at by millions of people, many of whom are just waiting for evidence of any wrong doing on her part for the sole purpose of squashing whatever is left of her once squeaky clean image.  There's a saying that goes "Good girls are bad girls who don't get caught."  Well, Miley is screwed, then, because it seems like the whole world knows her every move.

the longer this story goes on, the more i feel like john and talia have no real interest in each other at all.

which means Michael Easton and BethAnn Bonner are far better actors than John and Talia would really be - because their chemistry is insane...  John and Talia seem like they are totally into each other, and if it turns out that the OLTL writers say that they're just pretending for Antonio and Ramsey's benefit - it's going to seem a little off.  I guess it is going to seem a little off no matter what, since we haven't even really seen them kiss, let alone do anything else...  but Antonio has been such a jerk I just don't want to see Talia go back to him at this point.

whether they're really together right now or not, i really do like the idea of john and talia together.

Watching GH today, I know it's wrong, but I couldn't help but think - I really hope that Michael doesn't wake up... They should ship him off to some specialist in Europe or something, SORAS him, and next year he can come back as a teenager that can actually act.  Dylan Cash was a cute kid and all, but he's no actor - best he finds that out now and finds something else worthwhile to do with his life.
